Painted Leaf 2

My mixed-media art image, “Painted Leaf 2″ is now available as a LIMITED EDITION print in a 4 X 5 1/2 inch blank note card. Each one is numbered [1-25] and signed by me – sure to become worth [millions] (only after I’m dead) but you can get yours for $3.99 each + shipping.

These note cards are made of surprising quality paper and the image is printed with high gloss. I’m sure you could get a similar one at Walmart for around 5 bucks so it’s really a bargain (not to mention only 24 people in the whole world will have one like it). Jump on over to my Etsy store, VISUAL-MOJO, and pick up one right now.

It’s time for a bold decision

After thinking everything through for several days, I’ve decided to make a bold move. Instead of trying to maintain 2 separate blogs, one for my general thoughts and work progress, and another for my writing, I’ve decided to combine them into a single source.

Why not?

After all, my daily journal is WRITING and I don’t make a habit of writing new poems, short stories, or the like every day. It’s the right choice for me given the full time work schedule I keep, a dedicated art time, and an attempt at a social life. (It’s really sad though, that I’m 47 years old, single, and don’t devote very much of my time to “socializing.”) Note to self: I gotta work on that! :-)

So for the next couple of days you’ll see some changes – mainly on this website, rkrichardson.wordpress.com. This will be me hub – my canvas and instrument for words. After everything is moved over here from rkrwritingcorner.wordpress.com, that website will cease to exist.

This move also allows me to concentrate on a subject that is important to me and growing [everyday]; art expressed by people with disabilities. This whole new genre of thought has opened up to me since I’m . . . well . . . becoming disabled. There’s a whole world out there full of people who have all sorts of physical limitations and produce some of the most awesome art. On this site I’ll highlight them, as well as tell my own story of learning to live with Rheumatoid Arthritis and the effects it is having on my abilities to express myself artistically.

Stay tuned . . . it should get interesting . . .

Nothing like doing something twice –

Nothing like doing something twice – especially when it’s coding a website. Then there are the countless [hours] that are spent trying to get things to work and finally you just have to concede and say, “It’s not going to happen.”

I really hate giving up but in the end, sometimes you just gotta.

Take, for instance, the new PhotoStudio. I have been working for 2 days trying to get the stupid (yes I said stupid) slideshow to work and it just isn’t going to happen. I’m so frustrated I could scream – not to mention I’ve been spending all my time away from my day job working on this website and I haven’t had any time to… well… create anything – and that is frustrating me too!

Whew – whinning session over. :-)

I had another hard art life lesson tonight…

THe art piece I’ve been working hard on for over 2 weeks – Fallen – has just not come together. Yeah, I know I was so pumped with the idea and the inspiration but it just wasn’t coming out like I want. After working on it for many hours I NOW have an idea in my head how it should all come together. So, you could say I had to give up – and I did. But I haven’t stopped working on the project. I think it’s a good idea and worthy project so back to the drawing board (I really hate that saying right now) and time to start over from scratch.

Lesson learned: It’s okay to give in to an art piece that’s not coming together in a way that makes you feel good about it. It’s not my fault . . . there’s nothing to blame. It just wouldn’t work. Get mad and throw a temper tantrum, cry, scream, cuss – do whatever it is you have to do – then move on. There’s plenty of really good art still left hidden away upstairs in that goofy compartment I call a brain –

Stay tuned . . .

Finally the Art Gallery is finished!

After several days of hard work (when I wasn’t at my day job), I was able to get all the new upgrades in place in the Art Gallery. I hope you enjoy it!

Over the next few days a select number of pieces will be available to purchase in prints, greeting cards, the files themselves, and even online eCards. I’ll announce here and on the main site which ones will be for sale.
